System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition Currently in the Works
As part of the Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the game, NightDive Studios have announced work on System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition is currently underway.
I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I was terrified by the horrors lurking in the corridors of a little special game by the name of System Shock 2. As if the first wasn’t nerve-wracking enough, younger me thought it was a great idea to do it all over again with the sequel. Now, older me, just can’t stop giggling with excitement at the recently announced news that NightDive Studios is working on System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition game. This is in line with the whole 20th Anniversary celebrations for the title.
In case you missed it, NightDive Studios is the team that is currently working on a full-on remake of System Shock. Bless their Indie gaming hearts for even attempting to also throw in the sequel in their development plans. Clearly, these guys don’t need any sleep any time soon, hence diving into another project even before the first one is completed. That being said, no release date or release platform has been confirmed yet for the sequel.
With this being just an announcement, it might actually be quite a while before we even get to see the fruits of their labour. So if you’re a huge fan of the series, great news that you getting more System Shock, the bad news is you still have to wait till you relive the SHODAN nightmare again. That’s not even to mention the also in-development, full-blown System Shock 3 sequel which is also in development. Phew! Maybe we’ll get really lucky and get the System Shock Collection which packages all three remakes and new sequel in one tidy gaming bundle. NightDive, make it happen boys and gals.
We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for more System Shock details. As always keep coming back to SkyGamers for more of your favourite gaming news.
