One superhero gamer has blown our collective minds by creating his own working Nintendo Switch VR headset.  Excuse me Ninty, hope you are taking notes.  It’s really not that hard.

Let’s get the technicalities out of the way.  No, it doesn’t actually play Switch games in VR, think of it as merely a proof of concept.  With that taken care of, on to the juicy bits. Gamer Nintendrew, created something of a marvel.  Take a Durovis Dive 7 headset, add the Nintendo Switch console (without the JoyCons attached, obviously) and hack the Switch’s browser to allow full access and you have yourself a Nintendo Switch VR headset prototype.  In case you are wondering what the browser bit is for, let me explain.  Nintendrew wanted to test out a VR test video of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D from YouTube to see how VR content would look on the console.  And it works, like really well.  What this means is that the potential to use the console itself as a VR headset is definitely there.

Of cause, you can’t be silly and expect PS VR or Vive level of graphics on this thing.  However, it could mark an even lower entry point into VR than PS VR.  Don’t forget, lower hardware specs have never stopped Ninty from creating truly exceptional experiences.  So Ninendrew has basically single-handedly proofed the concept for Ninty.  Somebody give that guy a Bells.  I know you find it hard to believe, well take a peek at the posted video below and you tell me.
