Games and movies have crossed over into each other’s realm on numerous occasions. This is my option as how I see it all play out.
From the start, comic books have introduced us to various wonderful worlds, character’s and ideas. If I take my childhood as an example with batman and superman you had the comic books which spilled over into the television scene in the form of cartoons and the jumped to movies. In the early stages, games have looked at these popular figures and transformed the adventures from the big screen to the arcade screen. Since then it has grown from strength with very notable franchises doing very well like Batman. Yes, I hear you say there are some games that tried and failed in an epic way at this and to a degree I see your point. When movies are transformed into games it brings excitement to those who have loved the movie franchise. If we look at the example of James bond you are now able to step into the shoes of James bond and be the spy you always dreamed of.
When we look at the movies in past months and coming year we have seen an increase in games to movies transformations. Titles such as Warcraft, TMNT, Assassins Creed and Resident Evil, we have a healthy roster. Some movies have fallen short of gaming community but in their defence, we are not the easiest crowd to please. I think the relationship is an important one to keep alive and we must support the various institutions with their endeavors.
