Gaming Leader Board: Anticipated Games of 2016
2016 is shaping up to be a stellar year. We are going to kick off our first ever Gaming Leader Board column, where we count down to our favourite “thing” in gaming.
Before we get started, lets first get the leader board rules of engagement out of the way…Our Gaming Leader board is comprised of 7 of the top games confirmed to be coming out in 2016 that the SkyGamers team is most looking forward to, if the date for a game is not yet announced, it does not make it onto our leader board. Games that have already been released, do not make it onto our Leader Board. Game expansions, Do not make it onto our Leader Board. There’s no meta rating to any of these games, they’re put up purely on excitement factor as decided by the team. So without further ado…Lets Kick off our first ever…….
Gaming Leader Board for: Top 7 Anticipated Games of 2016:
7. Dark Souls 3 (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – April 12
Dark Souls 3 is a game with a fanatical fan base. Those who love it, swear by it as the greatest RPG game of all time. So it comes as a complete surprise that the team weren’t excited for it as much. I guess we fall into the camp of “its a great game…just not for us”. Releasing as soon as tomorrow, might also dampened our excitement, as its pretty much here…And there’s plenty of you out there who can’t wait to die…again…and again….and again….and….
6. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – May 24
Faith’s first adventure was something of a cult hit. We loved the dystopian world, and felt that the game needed a bit more space to have us run around in. We’re pretty sure DICE would’ve heard the fans about the issues of the first game, and will polish this to perfection! Running on current gen hardware, the visuals will be nothing short of stunning. So get your running shoes ready folks!
5. Homefront: The Revolution (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – May 17
When Homefront first launched, it was a game that had a very intriguing setting however plagued by lacklustre gameplay. It’s sequel had a rough start in life, with lots of developer switching, and game being redeveloped from the ground up. That aside, the few gameplay video’s and trailers we’ve seen, has us pretty excited to go back to Korean occupied United States. The game looks incredible, with the gorilla warfare tactics being the highlight among our team. Lets hope they finally got this game right.
4. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – August 23
Not all our team members had the opportunity to play the first Deus Ex (Human Revolution…not D-Ex 1), I’m one of those that actually did play it and loved it with my all heart. With its only failing being the boss fights. Enter Mankind Divided, it looks breath taking, and will no doubt have the same freeform stealth/action gameplay. Eidos claims they have made the boss fights completely optional…that’s already a win in my book. August 23 cannot come by soon enough.
3. Gears of War 4 (beta April 18) (Xbox One) – October 11
Rev up those Lancers for another action packed romp on the planet Sera. The series is one of the Team’s favourite franchise, and we are unanimously excited to try out this new outing, set 25 years after the events of Gears 3, Locust are no more…but the fun is far from over. In the words of the late Dom Santiago “This is going to be awesome”
2. DOOM (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – May 13
The Godfather of the FPS…Notice the trend yet? We are predominantly shooter lovers, so it should be no surprise that the game that got most of us into the First Person Shooter ranked so high on our Gaming Leader Board. We can’t help it, we’re beside ourselves in excitement. I personally loved the beta, caveats and all…the campaign is really where its at! It looks fantastic, going back to its fast paced old school roots. A proper return to form. Wolfenstein the new order was an unexpected hit, I will bet my pay check that Doom will knock out of the ball park! Prepare to go to hell once more!
1. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (PS4) – May 10
Was there ever any doubt? It could only be Nathan Drake’s final adventure, that takes the top spot of our First Ever Gaming Leader Board. We loved the multiplayer Beta. We love the gorgeous visuals. We love the production value. There is no doubt that Naughty Dog will set a new bar for adventure games to follow. Even Xbox fan boy of the team is losing his mind over this game. We all are…and the excitement alone is why this game is our Most anticipated game of 2016.
Hope you guys enjoyed our new column, with many more to come in the future. hop onto our comments and tell us which game are you most excited about in 2016. Keep it locked to SkyGamers
