We welcome Baby Xbox One X to the world
Category : News
It’s finally here. Microsoft has officially launched the Xbox One X console out into the wild. It’s a bold and powerful piece of engineering that we can’t get our hands on until December.
Yep, third world problems rear its ugly head yet again. That’s right, the rest of the known world gets their hands on the beautiful new Xbox One X today. We have to wait until December when it officially launches in South Africa. But just for a moment, we’re going to be happy for our over-the-pond brethren who will be enjoying all those teraflops. You’ve heard it a million times before and I’m going to ring it to you yet again.
The World’s Most Powerful Console! This beefcake of a box is powered by a 6TF GPU with a massive memory bandwidth of 326 Gb/s. That’s 12 GDDR5 of that yadda, yadda, yada…ok ok we’ve heard enough of that marketing jargon they’ve been beaming into our minds for the last year! Tell me something new already! Actually, there really isn’t much new except for whether you should take the plunge and purchase it. I personally already own a PS4 Pro and a 4K HDR TV and have decided to also get my hands on the One X. It’s a pricey piece of hardware for sure, but I’m not convinced it’s for everyone. For the price bump over the PS4 Pro, I’m not sure the average gamer will be able to tell the difference between what the Pro is offering VS the One X.
Sure on paper, it’s absurdly more powerful. But in reality, most people can’t tell the difference between 4K and full HD. It’s the whole law of diminishing returns thing. As everyone who’s been following us will know, I’m not a big fan of this mid-life gaming crisis thing with these 4K consoles. But I did end up purchasing one anyway and am now on my way to get the second. But you’ll just have to wait until December when I get my actual hands on the device for a full review. As for you guys in Stateside, enjoy your bouncing new baby …the Xbox One X. Happy 4K Gaming!
